It’ll be great competition rivalry though.

One downfall is they only support Mac and PC for the desktop, no Linux support yet. However they also support Apple TV, PS3, Xbox, and Wii.

Hey look, they even have Outrageous Fortune:

On the cusp of the iOS release, due today or any day now, iOS notifications is a great visual notification system on iPhone/iPad. However, OS X doesn’t have a native notification system. Growl is the closest thing we have as a notification system, however it is a 3rd party addon, and is now commercially sold in the AppStore for $1.99

Hopefully, the iOS notification system will come over to OS X, in Lion later in future updates. But realistically it will be released in the next paid-for update.

I’m surprised Apple haven’t bought Growl.

Well when that happened I thought, Amazon should buy the OS and run it as an iOS & Android competitor. Google has Android, Apple has iOS and Amazon, now with their tablet announced – it sure could use it’s own OS.

Looks like this _may_ be happening (it’s still a rumor – but still)…

I’ve failed always. I’d planned to go there a couple times with someone who I was with for a bit, but it never worked out. I had even planned to go there earlier this summer but it didn’t work out.

But old trusty Australia pulled out a villa in Portugal and invited me on an epic mirrorball suit surf-tour of a trendy tweed and an agressive nutmeg library coat journey… WTF are you talking about marksy?

I’m talking about surfing on the coast of Portugal for 4 days in the late days of summer and possible the final days for this year, man. It’s my last shot of surfing this year, and I thought, I could save my money and mope around in London for a week, whilst girlfriend and friends are busy working. Or live on the edge and take an adventure.

I had rekindled my taste of surfing a month ago with Rouzie down in Cornwall. It was fantastic. My knees are pretty much healed now after 5 years of waiting for an major injury to heal. Pain only comes after excessive pressure or drastic changes in temperature (out of the shower and into the cold rain on the bike).

I’d booked off the week leading up to September a couple months ago, to force myself to take holiday. Luckily, it’s bank holiday weekend this weekend, my birthday on the Friday, so I get two days off, so I’m taking off from work until Monday 5th, returning the day after.

However, I come back to London on the 1st, in time to relax for my 3rd decade celebration.

Joel doesn’t know exactly where the villa is yet, but I’m sure he’ll find it as he’s leaving early tomorrow.

Not taking a suitcase, just a rucksack with a tshirt, pants, trunks, slim towel, toothbrush, passport and waterproof camera.

Yus!

There was some controversy as to what happened with HPs webos, their latest device challenging the iPad, HP touchpad has died a death before even shipping.

Today, someone from Dixons announced the touchpad will sell for £89, usually selling for £349.

At just past 6pm gmt, dixons website indeed reflected that price for the 16gb, however shortly after, their site ground to a halt.

Those lucky enough will have themselves a cheap portable web browser and picture frame, while other keen consumers will be able to puck it up from Currys or PC World in the morning for the same price. While stocks last.

Their denote is that the <del datetime="2011-08-24T10:30:16+00:00">OS is and app storewill not continue,</del> device cannot compete with the iPad so are quickly throwing in the towel, hence the massive price cut. They said they will continue to support webOS.

I remember my father saying to me once, that if I feel I really want something, wait awhile and see if you still want it. If you do, then at least I’ve thought about it. This was to help my impulse buying I had when I was younger. At the time I thought it was just self-imposed punishment to make buying it all the more worth while.

I’ve been pining and lusting after a motorcycle for at least a good few years now. I’ve been thinking about the BMW F650gs for a while and have been looking into getting a second hand one. The price ranges from £1000 – £5500 second hand – depending on milage, extras and condition. However, brand new they start at £5600 for a standard, with no extras!

Even thought I’d love a brand new one, with ABS as an optional extra (another £990) is a bit much just for now. Heated grips, another optional extra, £130. And I’d need pannier bags and cellphone/GPS mount) – PLUS protective gear.

So, I’m thinking of a 2007/8 BMW F650gs for around £3000, inc ABS and bags. A bike similar to this:

Anyone had experience with taking these over Europe? Or have any points/tips on the bike?

A game I paid for and played on the iPhone “Cut the Rope” was a fun game of trying to help a monster eat candy. Simple game, but highly addictive.

It has just been released on Android, for free – however it comes (like many Android apps) with adverts.

One game in particular, Angry Birds is great to play – however it is littered with adverts. (BTW, one way i know of to avoid this is to put your phone onto airplane mode.) Playing the game, adverts are splashed along the top of the screen – so sometimes you can’t actually see part of the game. This ruins the experience. A lot.

Image is for illustrative purpose only

Cut the Rope however uses adverts wisely. Only during cutscenes or menus. This is fantastic, because I’d be more inclined to click an advert while I’m not playing a game. You don’t want to be interrupted while you’re doing something right? But if you’re not doing anything, do probably don’t mind the interruption.

For example, if you’re on your way to work and a bit late – someone asks for a couple minutes of your time for a survey – you normally say no. But, if you’re wondering around at lunchtime, you’d be more likely to stop and do the survey.

I’ve been needing some more storage in my room. As i lay in bed one morning waiting for my alarm to go off, i thought of the ginormous space above me. I thought, i should put some of that space underneath me… Just like thet00lman did in his shoebox room on Mt Vic.
So i went and had a look on Ikea for something suitable. I didn’t really know what to look for, i was thinking maybe some plastic crates, enough to withstand a small elephant.

However the next morning, there was a post on Lifehacker on that exact idea. Some guy had bought a couple bookcases to make a cheap bed base, with easy-access storage. (via Ikeahack)

This seemed like the solution, except i wanted my Malm bed on top of the bookcases laying horizontally flat. I went to Ikea early and bought two bookcases. Came home, put them together (quite quickly) and had a hell of a time trying to get them downstairs into my room, lifting the bed up while nudging the bookcases into place.

Once in place i realised they’re too high. So instead of resting the Malm bed on top of the bookcases naturally, I rest the bed on the long supporting side bars. One thing to note is that the bookcases are about 17cm longer than the bed. It however would suit a 160cm wide bed – but i’m happy as it is a natural bed side table.

It’s steady as a rock and a fair bit of room underneath now.
