Netflix for UK

Out of nowhere, Netflix just landed in the UK, rivalling longtime assholes Lovefilm. I’ve just signed up for their 30 day trial, and at £6/month for all you want TV/Movies (from their not-so-amazing but okaaaay library) it beats Lovefilm’s shitty £10/month disc rental method with limited shitty streaming that buffers all the time. It’ll be great competition rivalry though.

One downfall is they only support Mac and PC for the desktop, no Linux support yet. However they also support Apple TV, PS3, Xbox, and Wii.

Hey look, they even have Outrageous Fortune:

Screenshot on Windows because I don’t want to ruin my OS X with shitty Silverlight pluggin.

Whats the streaming quality like? Any HD content?

Quality isn’t too bad. Similar to an illegal XviD DVD rip or something… There’s a few HD movies. I checked out “Mallrats” (hey, a schooner!) which seemed to be at least 720p. Quality is decent enough for on-demand.

  4. Isn’t it just Flash based? Wouldn’t that work on Linux?

    Have signed up!

No Johnny. Silverlight. Shitty old Silverlight.
