I saw this mouse on subsequent pages from a google search “world’s best mouse” and was immediately enthused as it had 10-buttons – 9 more than my default Apple mouse.
Most developers require at least a three button mouse, with vertical scroller. This mouse has 10 buttons, a 2d scroller (vertical and left & right tilting) with fine/coarse scroll setting and a rechargeable battery.
Couple of drawbacks.
* It’s not bluetooth. It uses a 2.4ghz USB dongle.
* The software that comes with the mouse doesn’t support the mouse on OS X (even though the mouse works straight out of the box). Buttons can’t be customised.
However I have found a solution to the lame Logitech software. Steermouse is a piece of software with a huge library of mouses. It picked up the mouse straight away and was very easy to customise. Within minutes all 10 buttons are assigned to a specific task on my mac.
For a mouse that cost me £48, you’d think that software would work with OS X.
Purchase Steermouse for $USD20 – or use the demo until it runs out and you end up with a very expensive three-button mouse.
So.. what mouse should I buy?
All fear the 20 button mouse:
