sIFR (Scalable Inman Flash Replacement created originally by Mike Davidson) is a form of custom font replacement which employs the usage of JS and Flash to display custom fonts on webpages in a accessible way.
And i’ve always hated it. It’s so fiddly and precarious in the way you implement it into pages. There are about three different ways to change the font size, colour etc. It’s annoying to say the least. Which is why I’ve been pro-image-replacement for the past couple of years.
However, some clever little code monkey has created a jQuery plugin for sIFR which makes my life so much easier. It’s ridiculously easy to install, and all you need to do is add “sIFR” class to the heading you want. Customise the heading in the css and BANG! Job done.
Watch out for it in mmv8.. VRRRRRROOOOOM!
