So, why shouldn’t we be asking Apple for a free upgrade to their upcoming OS Snow Leopard?
Each other OS has been a (rather cheap) paid upgrade, £79 – and that’s fine considering they’ve been adding great applications, functionality and usability to their OS.
But this time around, they’re focussing on performance rather than features. And to me, performance should be considered as their cost – not a cost on us the consumers. We shouldn’t have to pay them to make their software more reliable and stable.
“We’ve added over a thousand features to Mac OS X in the last five years,” he said Monday in an interview after his presentation. “We’re going to hit the pause button on new features.”
Yeah, so they’re building in functionality which makes it better for developers to create applications for OS X, a more robust file system, and speed increases – but should this be considered as a reason for me, you and those other guys who use the OS rather than develop for it?
Unless they drop some lolcat wallpapers in there, I’m not gunna be paying for an OS with bug fixes.
