Is Google stripping adverts for developers?

Hi, my name is Mechanical Marksy and I’m an every day user of Google.

I don’t think thats a problem. I probably even use it every hour. Anyways, this is not my point.

I’ve been doing some searches just recently and i’ve noticed that Google seems to be stripping adverts for developers. When you normally search for something on Google, it brings back results in the main text area, while displaying adverts in the right hand side column.

Search for anything, and it will most of the time, give you adverts based on your search.

Example, search for “cat” and you will see adverts relating to cats such as Blue Cross for pets in Britian and a “rescue cats rock” pen you can buy to save homeless cats.

Now, if you search for something to do with web development, say, “html attribute” you will see no adverts are brought back.

Australia (joel), thinks this is just because there are no adverts with those tags associated with it… so i tried some more common developer queries.. More and more came back with no adverts..

I thought that this would surely bring me some adverts, “.net tutorials”.. Once again, no. How about “ways to tidy code”, 0. “developing for cross browser”… 0..

So is Google giving us developers some slight comfort?

Update: Professor boggins, should check himself before he makes himself look foolish

I dont think so. I search for developer stuff a lot and get ads often.

If I search for “css tutorial” I get NO ADS.

If I search for “cake recipe” I get NO ADS

    Experiment concluded
